    Danushika Abeyrathna obtained a PhD in Law, focusing on the development of a rights-based legal framework for surrogacy in Sri Lanka through qualitative field research and comparative analysis with India. Her broader research interests span medical law, reproductive rights, family law, child rights, and the intersection of law and psychology. She has contributed to national policy development, including drafting Sri Lanka’s Code of Practice and Guidelines for Medically Assisted Reproductive Techniques. In addition to reproductive rights, she is engaged in work on gender equality, human rights, and the governance of emerging health rights.
