Agro-food Waste As A Resource For High Value Products: Innovative And Sustainable Biotechnological Approaches

Participating journal: Biomass Conversion and Biorefinery

Against this background, this thematic issue focuses on solutions for an efficient use of agro-waste materials for the provision of phytochemicals, antioxidants, value-added phenolic compounds and other valuable chemical compounds. Therefore, biochemical approaches and conversion processes focusing e.g. on the provision of platform chemicals as well as on bulk and fine chemicals are within the focus of this thematic issue. Thus, papers addressing microbial conversion technologies, bio-chemical engineering approaches, innovative and promising bioprocesses, and novel bio-catalytic systems for agro waste utilization are intended to be published. This will also include fundamental principles, recent developments, challenges and solutions, innovative state-of-the-art technologies, case studies and future prospective on agro-food waste processing towards specific chemicals and maybe fuels as a low value product to make use of the remaining biomass after the provision of high value products.

The focus of this thematic issue is on original research papers with novel findings and new results meetings highest scientific standards. Review papers are only accepted exceptionally if they are tackling a new question and / or providing new and in-depth insights into a specific topic.

Participating journal

Biomass Conversion and Biorefinery is a research-focused journal dedicated to the exploration of biomass conversion and biorefinery processes based on a holistic approach.
