Orthodox Christians for Life (OCLife) has announced that several parishes are establishing new ministry chapters following the organization’s summer missionary outreach at major Orthodox conferences and educational institutions.
The organization’s Executive Director, Emily Yocum, reports in an email to supporters that OCLife representatives connected with hundreds of Orthodox faithful during presentations at three major conferences: the Antiochian Diocese of Wichita & Mid-America Parish Life Conference, the Antiochian Diocese of the West Parish Life Conference, and the Orthodox Church in America’s 21st All-American Council.
“We know that faithful Orthodox Christians are hungry for tangible ways to push back against the culture of death, and that is what Orthodox Christians for Life can offer them. Yet most Orthodox individuals do not yet know that OCLife exists,” Yocum stated in a recent communication to supporters.
During the outreach events, OCLife representatives used fetal models to demonstrate prenatal development, distributed educational materials including icon cards and impact reports, and consulted with clergy and laypersons about establishing parish-based pro-life ministries.
Yocum also delivered two presentations to Masters and PhD students at the Antiochian House of Studies at Antiochian Village in Pennsylvania, addressing abortion-related challenges facing the Orthodox Church and strategies for creating a culture of life in parishes.
The summer campaign also included meetings with existing OCLife ministry leaders.
Orthodox Christians for Life, which operates remotely, aims to equip the Orthodox community to strengthen its commitment to the sanctity of human life from conception to death. The organization’s vision is for every Orthodox Christian to learn and embrace an Orthodox pro-life ethic.
