आज मैंने सोचा की कुछ अलग लिखते हैं, आज शाम में कुछ अलग बात है। " खुशबू सी है जैसे हवा में तैरती, खुशबू जो बे-आवाज़ है। जिसका पता तुमको भी है, जिसकी खबर मुझको भी है, दुनिया से भी छुपता नहीं, ये जाने कैसा राज़ है।" जावेद अख्तर द्वारा लिखी गई और फ़िल्म ज़िंदगी ना मिलेगी दोबारा (2011) में सुनाई गई यह कविता इंसानी एहसासों के बारे में है, कि कैसे हम कई ज़रूरी बातों को अनकहा छोड़ देते हैं। इनमें से कुछ बातें हमारे दिल के क़रीब होती हैं और कुछ उतनी नहीं। लेकिन मुझे ये पंक्तियाँ ख़ासतौर पर तब दिलचस्प लगती हैं, जब आप एक आम सब्ज़ी, प्याज़ और उसकी आँखों में जलन पैदा करने वाली गंध के बारे में सोचते हैं। प्याज़, उसकी तेज़, ख़ास महक, एक ख़ामोश राज़ है, ठीक उसी तरह जैसे इस कविता में बताया गया है। मेरे लिए, ये पंक्तियाँ प्याज़ की प्रकृति को खूबसूरती से बयाँ करती हैं। इसकी महक एक अनकहा राज़ है जिसे हर कोई जानता है, एक अदृश्य उपस्थिति जो बिना आवाज़ के खुद को महसूस कराती है, और हवा में अपने एहसास को भर देती है। प्याज, जो दुनिया भर के पकवानों का एक अहम हिस्सा है, हज़ारों सालों से मानव इतिहास में एक ख़ामोश ...
