Add a video conference to or remove a video conference from your calendar event

You can add a video conference to or remove a video conference from your events in Google Calendar. You can use Google Meet or another video conferencing add-on.

  1. On your computer, open Google Calendar.
  2. Create an event or open an existing event that you have edit access to.
    • For new events, click More options.
    • For existing events, click Edit Edit.
  3. In the event, find the conferencing field.
    • To remove an existing video conference, click Remove Close.
    • To add a new conference, click Add Google Meet video conferencing.
      Tip: To make sure that you don't join a meeting with an expired code, and to plan better for the future meetings that you create, check when meeting codes will expire. Learn about Google Meet meeting codes.
    • If you installed a conferencing add-on from the Google Workspace Marketplace, select the conferencing provider from the 'Add conferencing' drop-down menu. Learn how to install an add-on from the Marketplace.
  4. Click Save.

Take notes with Gemini in Meet

Important:

  1. On your computer, open Google Calendar.
  2. At the top left, click Create and then Event.
  3. Click Add Google Meet video conferencing.
  4. Turn on Use Gemini to take meeting notes.
  5. Add guests and other details to your event.
  6. Click Save.
Tips:
  • Only event organisers can turn on Gemini to take meeting notes.
  • To turn off this feature for your meeting:
    1. On your computer, open Google Calendar.
    2. Edit the event.
    3. Click Manage settings.
    4. Deselect Take notes with Gemini and Transcribe the meeting.
    5. Click Save.

Troubleshooting

I want to use a different conferencing solution

Important: If you have a work or school account, your administrator controls the add-ons that you can use or install in Calendar.

You can install a video conferencing add-on to use with Calendar. After installation, you can manually add video conferencing to your events. Learn how to find and install an add-on for Calendar.

I want to automatically add a Google Meet video conference to my event

  1. On your computer, open Google Calendar.
  2. At the top right, click Settings and then Settings.
  3. On the left, click Event settings.
  4. Turn on Automatically add Google Meet video conferences to events that I create.

I want to avoid multiple conferences on single events

  • An event can have only one conference. You can use Google Meet or another video conferencing add-on.
  • To use another video conference add-on, find and install the add-on from the Marketplace.
  • When you add a conference to your event, select the add-on in the conferencing field drop-down.
  • If you insert conference details directly into the location field or event description or if you use a browser extension, it may result in multiple conferences being attached to a single event.
