The New Zealand captain is in the second and final year of his contract with the Broncos and says he will take all offers - either from league or union - seriously.

"I've had a few offers in the past and in New Zealand I played a lot of rugby union right up until I was 20 before going off to play rugby league, so if I do get a good offer it's not going to be foreign territory for me," said Barnett.

"My manager and I will be looking at all our options and if union provides a good one for me then I have no problem with that."

Barnett is sure to generate interest from rival league clubs when his contract is up, especially after what happened when London's existence was in question during the off-season.

Barnett's manager fielded calls from a number of top Super League clubs as well a couple in the NRL before it was confirmed the Broncos would still be around in 2002.

Barnett, who moved to England after the 2000 Rugby League World Cup, has seen a number of his former team-mates make successful moves to union.

Among them are Super 12 stars Andrew Walker and Mat Rogers.

"I played with Mat at Cronulla and Andrew at Sydney City," says Barnett.

"I know I had a fair bit of interest from New South Wales before I came here but I was still in contract with the Roosters at the time. If things had been different then I may have made the switch."

Having established himself in London, Barnett, who can also play at centre and on the wing, would prefer to stay in the capital.

And a switch to union could make that a real possibility.

"League only has the Broncos in London while in union there's Saracens, Wasps and Harlequins," said Barnett.

"But at the end of the day the best option is the one I'll take and if I have to move to the north of England or back to Australia or New Zealand then so be it."
