Story Time

I went for TEL4 (Thomson-East Coast Line Stage 4) public preview event on 21 June. It’s a free ride for the new stations before officially opening on 23 June.

Tanjong Rhu and Marine Parade are probably the best highlights this time. The other stations were quite uh… “ulu” (remote, out of the way) and feels like a showcase of where the rich people live 😂

It’s such coincidence that the battery inside my wireless keyboard got swollen before Christmas. It’s a Nuphy Air 60 (V1).

I emailed them and they responded to send me a barebone kit as replacement if I pay for the freight.

9 days later, I received it.

I’ve been looking for a nice case for my AirPods Pro (2nd gen, not USB-C) for some time, since last year. There’s a lot of them online, but none are really optimized for this specific model, which has extra holes for speakers and lanyard. Some companies made a few “optimized” ones but they are…either boring-looking (professional-kind-of case) or super rugged (protected against all forms of physical damage).

My requirement was to get a (cheap) fun cute decorational case, without the powerful damage protection. I’ve never dropped the case at all, but I sometimes accidentally drop the buds instead, due to the irregular shapes 😂. Also, no point protecting a case with another case right? 🤷‍♂️

After 1 whole year of waiting, I finally settled on this:

Recently found 2 really cool macOS apps.

1. MediaMate (trial, paid) — it makes the HUD display for sound/brightness change more iOS-ish. Feels like it should’ve been part of macOS. Coolest feature would be the “Now Playing” HUD expanding from the notch (I’m using MBA M2) 🤩

   

2. EasyDict (free) — surprisingly powerful translation app, works when selecting text, has OCR, has multiple translation providers (Google Translate, DeepL, etc) and implements a nice sidebar UI 🤯. This seems to work for me now as I’ve always been using quite a lot of translation apps (from macOS/iOS Shortcuts, Raycast extensions, Automator scripts, to random paid OCR apps 😅).

I went to an event called “FOMO Art Weekend” and saw this very cool sticker by The CheepCheeps.

They’re called “Stackable Stickers”.

Technically they are multiple glossy stickers, which you can stick on top of each other to form the patterns that you like, a.k.a. stack them up. So for the cup noodle, you can stick the “ingredients” in any way you like on top of each other and form your own artwork 🤯!

Story time

Thomson-East Coast line Stage 3 was opened on Nov 11. The opening event (one day) allows folks to travel on it for free, so… why not? Among the 11 new stations, I think Napier and Gardens by the Bay stations are the most well-designed.
