Ensign College Helps Incarcerated Students Build Faith, Purpose, and a Path Forward

Ensign College is helping incarcerated individuals discover a renewed sense of purpose by combining career-focused education with faith-based learning. Since launching online courses at the Utah State Correctional Facility in November 2024 in partnership with the Utah Department of Corrections (UDC), Ensign College has served nearly 500 incarcerated and paroled men and women and continues to expand its reach.

At an Ensign College devotional in January 2026, Elder Edward B. Rowe, General Authority Seventy, shared the story of an Ensign College graduate who “faced her own Mount Everest.” That graduate—Vicky Tadić Dean—overcame extraordinary hardship through faith in Jesus Christ, education, and determination.

Ensign College Announces 139th Commencement

Ensign College will hold its 139th Commencement exercises in the historic Salt Lake Tabernacle on Temple Square on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. For nearly 140 years, the College has honored graduating students who are prepared to enter the workforce with job-ready skills and experience. More certificates and degrees will be awarded than ever before in the history of Ensign College, with 5,676 awards conferred upon 3,893 graduates—3,402 of which are online students through a partnership with BYU-Pathway Worldwide.
