All osu!std beatmaps include combo colours, but they are currently unused by sentakki. After thinking about it, I decided to write a proposal for implementing the Combo Colours from standard
Why?
Unlike maimai/astro, osu! features a hitsounding system. I feel like just porting the BREAK notes does not work since you can achieve the same auditory effect with a whistle. Also we already have tens of thousands of ranked std maps with combo colours that can be converted to sentakki and IMO it would be a bummer to copy maimai when a better alternative exists in the very game you are working with.
How would this work?
Combo colours would work identically compared to standard gameplay, and would be changed in the editor identically to std.
What about twin and BREAK notes?
You would not be allowed to pick a colour code value that is too close to yellow or orange, there would be a filter which would be able to detect any one of the million shades of yellow/orange and turn them into red or green for converts and the editor would prohibit selecting any yellow-ish or orange-ish colour - These two would be reserved as a special colour.
Even though this is a very big change compared to how the game worked for the last 5 years, I hope that this can still be considered as I'd love to have a more colourful game to play.
