I try to go down a floor for example and it gives me a blank error message about unknown direction. If i try to press the go up a floor key for the other duck bill then it tells me about not having a special ability in my normal form. I cant use the square brackets during character creation either, presumably for the same reason.

Im running the standard 3.6.7 binary on windows. My keyboard layout is the standard hungarian full size.
