Modify the terrain without adding regions #838

Recently I have been digging through Terrain3D's documentation, wondering if I cound make use of it to build a CitySkylines-like game featuring a much bigger world. And soon I found that this plugin seems to be designed for creating noise-generated backgrounds and embeding hand-crafted map into the world . So my question is that: I'm asking for help here because I believe repo-owners knows their repo best. My English is poor. Feel free to ask for more detail, or close this discussion if necessary. :D |

The WorldNoise Background is just a gimmick with shader generated data, not meant for production. If you don't want to hand sculpt, then generate your own noise and stick it into your regions. Then you can sculpt and modify it in the editor or in game. See the codegenerated demo.
Both are doable. Look at the Godot Road Generator.
I won't tell you what you should do for your project. But Terrain3D is the best Godot terrain system. Modifying it will add unnecessary maintenance, and making your own is the worse option unless your needs are very specific and unique (I doubt they are). |
