55b0f157c7bb2bfd7f09b5283e6f5c54f5d90774, part of #10260, is causing crashes, as evidenced by https://github.com/adafruit/circuitpython/pull/10271#issuecomment-2817392221. I am only testing with @anecdata's test program in #10271 on a Pico W.
