Prioritize prefix matches when showing tag completions? #4207

Hi,
First of all, thank you for the amazing work you’re doing with Anki — it’s been incredibly helpful for my studies.
Just a quick note regarding tag selection during card creation. When assigning tags, especially those starting with numbers (like CFA::4_Financial_Statement_Analysis), I noticed that typing 4 doesn’t bring that tag to the top of the autocomplete list. This feels a bit unintuitive and creates some friction when navigating through many nested tags.
I believe it would make sense for the tag autocomplete engine to prioritize results that start with or exactly match the characters typed, especially when dealing with large tag hierarchies. It’s a small UX detail, but one that could save significant time cumulatively for heavy users.
I’ll include a video with more details to clarify. Watch Anki Proposition | Streamable
Thanks again for everything,
Arthur
