Action required from all contributors: License Change & Mailing Address #259

Contributors:

O'Reilly has offered to send a free physical copy of the book to every contributor; if you'd like one, please send you mailing address to [email protected] and we'll get that put together.

More importantly:We were recently contacted by O'Reilly about the content licensing form book contributors. After some legal investigation, they actually changed their minds on what contributors would need to provide; apparently, a Creative-Commons Attribution license isn't good enough for submissions.

What we now need everyone to do, in order to be able to use your work, is to make a pull request and replace the contents of ".license_assignments/<your_github_username>.md" file with the following text:

"By placing this file I hereby grant you (O’Reilly Media, Inc), and your
successors, assigns, and sublicensees, a non-exclusive license to
copy, reproduce, print, publish, distribute, translate, and otherwise
use all work, code, or works of authorship produced and contributed to
this project in all versions and editions of the Work, and in any
works based on or incorporating the Work, in any and all media, in
perpetuity and throughout the world."

The ".license_assignments/template.md" has been updated to reflect this new license as well.

This does not affect the license of the finished Cookbook... It will still be released under a Creative Commons no-commercial no-derivs license as planned.

We're very sorry about the trouble; this change was a surprise to us as well. I do not believe it to be substantive, but if you have any questions I will do my best to answer them or to put you in contact with O'Reilly's lawyers.

Thank you!
