In short, this is advance notice that I plan to move development of clojurephant from GitHub to SourceHut in October 2025, unless there are sufficient objections. Releases will continue to be published to Gradle's Plugin Portal and Clojars as they are now.
SourceHut uses a more email-based workflow that may be less familiar to many, though it does align more with Clojure's (infamous?) patch-based workflow. SourceHut does not require contributors to sign up for an account to contribute. The platform is also fully open source, which aligns better with my personal views.
GitHub certainly serves many users and communities well, but Gradle support for Clojure is a niche need that has not led to high community engagement even on a platform like GitHub.
If this move interests people in contributing, that would be great, but that wasn't a key driver for this change.
The repositories have already been mirrored and a mailing list created. I won't archive anything on the GitHub side until October to give time for people to respond if this negatively impacts them.
Also pinging the original set of @clojurephant/developers in case they have any feedback here. I certainly want to provide some deference to the fact that this plugin was started as a joint effort, while acknowledging that I've been maintaining solo since very shortly after we started the effort.
