This is not something we are oppose to, but it would need to be a community contribution. For anyone willing to explore this, feel free to share more context on the approach here or in a new issue. |

wish
I want to use continue.dev in a tab, similar to how files are handled or as shown in the screenshot the 'bash' console. Using the console from a tab is incredible since i can switch between comparing files and looking at the shell very fast.
my problem
My main problem with the sidebar integration is that I simply don't have enough screen space.
When I use continue.dev from the primary side bar I constantly have to resize it because switching to the file dialog, and I do this often, means either the file dialog is too big or the continue.dev is too small.
current implementation
wish: mokup implementation

update (25.1.2026)
just by accident, i've found a way to get continue.dev it into a tab:
ctrl+k ctrl+m and it opened the continue.dev into an external window and this can be integrated to the main editor window into a tab.
so mission accomplished - yet i really don't yet understand why.
