To address this need and some other related ones I created a project https://www.npmjs.com/package/intl-messageformat-html Hopefully some others will find this useful. So with this I can do import { IntlMessageFormat } from 'intl-messageformat';
import { wrapValues } from 'intl-messageformat-html';
const values = {
spouse: 'Spouse',
};
const classes = [ 'lower' ];
const message = 'How should the documents refer to <lower>{spouse}</lower>?';
const html = new IntlMessageFormat(message, 'en').format(wrapValues(values, classes));Which now produces: How should the documents refer to <span class="lower">Spouse</span>?I'm still curious when exactly a tag function will receive multiple chunks. Even with nested tags and interpolated values I'm always getting one chunk. Thanks for making this library; it's really well done and nicely extensible!! |

When will a tag function receive multiple chunks?
In my testing even when the content has an embedded message or other tag function each tag function still receives a single chunk; unless I'm doing something wrong in my testing..
When there are multiple chunks, what is the recommended way to combine them? For now I'm joining with
chunks.join('').One of my tag functions:
