This bug tracks the criteria for releasing v1.0.0 of Spanner.

The following items need to be completed:

• Update gapic code. Spanner: Re-generate gapic and drop usage of gax #4695
• Remove dependency on deprecated gax library. Spanner: Re-generate gapic and drop usage of gax #4695
• Release new api_core, since it contains changes that Spanner needs. Release api_core v0.1.4 #4730
• Release a release candidate. Release Spanner v0.30.0 #4732
• Have a Storage DPE review the API surface & documentation. (@jsimonweb)
• Have a Python DPE review the API surface for overall API consistency. (@jonparrott)
• Have Spanner POC review the API surface & documentation. (@vkedia)
• Wait one week and resolve any user issues.
• Release v1.0.0. ✨
