I am interested to get metrics for the following Intel architectures (Meteor Lake, Arrow Lake, Lunar Lake) using using Intel PCM. Currently, NPU are integrated into the same package. However, we saw that there is no counter exposed to separately monitor the NPU's power consumption.
Is there any plans from Intel to expose direct NPU-specific energy or power metrics in future releases?
Specifically:
Will a new RAPL domain (similar to PP0/PP1/DRAM) or an MSR counter be introduced to isolate NPU energy consumption?
If so, in which generation or microarchitecture would you expect it to become available?
Is there any existing (non-public) method today that could allow more accurate monitoring of NPU workload energy?
Having direct access to NPU-specific power data would be invaluable for both power-aware software development and hardware optimization initiatives.
Thank you very much,
William
