I have quite the same issue as @amitbha. I'm using Manjaro Linux 21.1.2 Pahvo. and using i3 as windows manager.
The thing is even though the main windows is not shown after taking screenshot but the screenshot result is including the ksnip main window.
Below is the screenshot result:
At the time screenshot was taken there is only one windows which is my terminal.
@scarmonger just to clarify if I get the issue correctly: You take a screenshot and on the screenshot the main window is visible, then after the screenshot the main window is not longer visible but minimized to tray and you have to manually open it?
I'm just mentioning this as I have a similar issue: I use KDE and it seems that when using an external screen (only the external one is active), the resolution of the laptop screen is shown when in "select a rectangle" mode. With "is shown" I mean that the screenshot ksnip takes automatically (and shows while in rectangle mode) is made with another resolution - it just looks terrible. Therefore it's impossible to target correctly because the rectangle that is selected is taken from the real screen and not from the screenshot shown while in rectangle mode.
@flashtheman sounds like a different issue. Can you open a new bug for it and maybe describe your setup (Screen resolution, monitor count, screen scaling)?
