This is a followup from the forum where I got feedback from @olix0r that linkerd may be interested in a Namer that uses SRV records for service discovery.

What happened:

My organisation uses SRV records for service discovery. I was not able to do this with existing linkerd releases because none of the existing service discovery backends implement this.

What you expected to happen:

I expected to be able to use SRV records to discover instances of my service.

Environment:

• linkerd/namerd version, config files: n/a
• Platform, version, and config files (Kubernetes, DC/OS, etc): Custom service discovery mechanism based on DNS SRV records.
• Cloud provider or hardware configuration: n/a
