Documentation Link

https://matplotlib.org/stable/

Problem

When I go to https://matplotlib.org/stable/, I get the red banner at the top that says "This is documentation for an unstable development version."

Suggested improvement

The "unstable" red banner shouldn't show on the stable docs

What version do the docs claim they are and what is the url of the switcher.json that it tries to download?

I suspect that this is a caching issue where you are getting and old index.html but a new switcher (or visa versa).

In the footer it lists "Built from v3.10.1-1-g280135670a." The switcher URL the page fetches is https://matplotlib.org/devdocs/_static/switcher.json?v3.10.1-1-g280135670a=
