Description
WHAT?
Implement custom theming, and provide dark and light mode options (and either including a classic blue mode, or using classic blue as light mode).
WHY?
- Accessibility: some of us have cognitive disabilities & visual processing disorders (and the high contrasting colors of dark mode can be painful).
- Nostalgia: It's how EDIT used to be back in the day; and it looks slick, pairs well with other apps like Midnight Commander (or Norton Commander from the og DOS times).
Here are some examples:
| Very Classic | Regular Classic |

Classic Dialogs
- It would also be nice to be able to theme the dialogs -- Like for drop shadows, disabled buttons, or using a highlight color to create depth (the depth really helps those of us with visual processing disorders -- it's not just pointless shine -- and it's all done just with changing colors of static elements):

Gallery
- Here are some example dialogs from a variety of DOS programs like QBASIC, EDIT, or WORD, Borland Turbo Whatever, RHIDE, etc; note they generally had shadows to help differentiate the dialog from the background, and made neat use of ASCII art:
