Good question! There's a detailed architectural comparison on the docs site: https://openpencil.dev/guide/comparison TL;DR — different approach. Penpot is server-first (Clojure/ClojureScript frontend, Rust/Skia WASM renderer opt-in, self-hosted), OpenPencil is local-first (TypeScript, CanvasKit/Skia, native .fig import). Section 10 covers what Penpot does better. |
