Feature Description

I'd like to suggest a new feature that goes beyond what the original Bose SoundTouch app ever offered: a scheduled wake-up alarm directly in OCT.

What it should do

• Trigger at a user-defined time (with day-of-week selection, e.g. Mon–Fri)
• Start playback of a selected preset (e.g. Preset 1–6 as already managed by OCT)
• Target a specific speaker or a multiroom zone (group of speakers playing in sync)
• Be configured and managed via the existing OCT web UI
• Support one-time and recurring alarms

Why this would be valuable

This is a feature the original Bose app never had — and it's something OCT could uniquely offer as a genuinely new capability on top of the existing platform. Since OCT already manages presets and device discovery, the groundwork is largely in place.

Technical thoughts

• Backend: A scheduler like APScheduler (Python-native, fits the existing FastAPI stack) could manage alarm jobs persisted in the OCT data volume
• Multiroom: The SoundTouch HTTP API supports zone creation — OCT could create a zone at alarm time if not already active, then fire the preset on the master speaker
• Frontend: A simple alarm management page in the React UI (time picker, day selector, preset dropdown, device/zone selector)

Conclusion

Happy to discuss the design further or help with testing. Would love to hear whether multiroom zone triggering at a scheduled time is feasible within the current architecture.
