However, today, after a short network disconnect and switch between Wifi ad mobile hotspot, I got rate limited directly and the limit seems to persist with a new time on each try. 
Can you inform me what the problem is here, if this might be an issue on the GH side or how I can avoid getting rate limited like this? Many thanks |

same shit happens to me each second day it says that then it allows me to send 3-10 more messages and repeats the same shit again... EDIT: i have pro+ for 1 year and i didnt signed for weekly limits... it wasnt of terms of service when i was subbing |

Iβve been using Copilot for years without issues, but this week I suddenly started hitting daily and weekly limits, even though I still have plenty of requests left in my monthly quota. This doesnβt make sense and seriously disrupts my workflow. If I havenβt reached my monthly limit, why am I being restricted earlier? Is this an intended change, a bug, or something that hasnβt been clearly communicated? Attaching screenshots for reference β would appreciate clarification.

I'm hitting the same issue. The extension prompts the weekly rate limit will reset in minutes (e.g. "You've reached your weekly rate limit. Please upgrade your plan or wait for your limit to reset on April 15, 2026 at 10:49 PM"), which is true, the agent processes a small amount of tokens, only to block productivity again. Seems like there is some disconnect between billing and development departments, caused by a panic ad-hoc implementation demand. |

The issues been happening for a few days now and has gotten so bad that The Register has written an article on it. More people with the same problem: I highly recommended updating us on the status of your rate limit (whether it has been fixed or not) every couple of hours to make sure this problem is visible enough to the people who need to see it. |

If yall are having issues with anthrophic-based models, there's no answer for these guys. It's better to leverage a different provider like OpenAI models or Moonshot AI kimi models. Affordable and less downtime. |

Yeah, this is a known issue on Copilot, unfortunately. Best way is to pivot to claude or codex extension for dev work. |

I've given up on using Copilot after so many problems. It's astonishing how something new happens every month that makes it hard to work, even though I'm paying for it. I decided to switch to Claude Code Max for about $200, and literally all my problems are solved. It sounds like a generic sales pitch, but it's true: goodbye rate limits, goodbye problems with a specific AI model being in high demand, and on top of that, better code quality. |

While I understand the need for rate limits to ensure platform stability, I find it disappointing and confusing that such restrictive limits apply to paid members. As someone who subscribes to your services with the expectation of reliable, premium features, hitting a 429 βToo Many Requestsβ error and having to wait a full day before being able to continue my work feels like a penalty for using the platform as intended. Being subjected to the same or very similar restrictions as free-tier users undermines the value proposition of being a paying member. This situation raises significant concerns about the scalability and infrastructure supporting GitHub. As a paying customer, I expect fair and transparent limits that are clearly communicated upfront, not restrictions that interfere with daily workflows. It feels like GitHub prioritizes controlling usage over improving infrastructure to better support loyal subscribers. I believe issues like this could be addressed with:

Iβve been getting these messages since yesterday. Iβm using Copilot exactly as I always have and have never had issues like this until now. Interestingly, previous messages suggested I switch to 'Auto' mode, which I did, and it works perfectly. The strange part is that while 'Auto' usually selects Sonnet 4.6 for my prompts without any trouble, the moment I try to select that same model (or others like Opus 4.6 or GPT 5.4) manually, Iβm instantly told to 'upgrade my plan.' Upgrade to what? Iβm already a Pro+ subscriber. I even checked the plans page thinking a $100+ 'Max' tier had been released, but Pro+ is still the highest option available. |

I'm beyond frustrated at this point. I just got charged $39 by Copilot an hour ago. I thought maybe my subscription had ended, which would explain the weekly rate limit. But surpriseβI got home, tried to use it, and I'm STILL rate-limited. So what the hell am I paying $39 for? This is highway robbery. How do I request a refund? |

When I opened support.github.com to submit a new ticket, a virtual assistant popped up asking if I wanted a refund. I guess GitHub does have some self-awareness about this. But I have zero intention of forgiving them. I feel like my money was stolen, and I will NEVER use Copilot again π. |

You can consider to switch to Codex, you will find it is very hard to use all $200 usages. Now they even provide $100 plan with half useage(Before June). I use both (yes, even Claude Code, as I am a team lead I need to compire them), I am also a Pro+ but still very disapointed to see this. |

after the update, I used it for literally 2 days and was given a rate limit for a week. The hourly limits were still tolerable, but they were already a lot for a week, and every week they cut off more and more. I really hope that so |

It is Utterly useless now, limits hit just after 2/3 prompts on even 5.3 Codex. Then they start hitting on 5.4 Mini as well. Macroslop is funny guys. Really funny. |

Everything is updated. The issue is real. Can't use any other model than 5.4 Mini otherwise hit with very strict limits. Also now I am weekly limited for 5 days for making less than 10 Premium Requests in total |

Some of my request just eat tokens and unused, i have to spend PAID tokens to fix stupid decisions that LLM's made, limit almost reached in the middle of working week, because this limit actually can be used in 1 day on the single normal project. So i pay money, lost my time, got low quality of service and i have limits! Just great! Thank you! I am going to buy Codex subscription.
Update from this post started 50 minutes ago, one request to simple sorting fix, 10 minutes of "THINKING" nothing changed, -4% of WEEKLY limit!!!! I know, you don't need PRO plan subscribers anymore, that's your plan! 4% of your weekly limit gone less than for 1 hour.
