Billing information ineligible due to government restrictions, and Payment information is disabled #207768

We are also blocked, I noticed that a field on the bill tab had been reset by Github to the wrong country. May be worth checking. Though in our instance, resetting to the correct country has not lifted the ban and GitHub seems unresponsive and from other threads it appears that others were blocked for working for weeks. Please post if you are able to reach someone and can get to a resolution. This is the most damaging billing customer experience i've ever had .. with xero resolution and what appears to be zero care. |

I know waiting three months is incredibly frustrating, especially when you just want to pay for a service you've used for years. Yes, others have definitely seen this exact message. Here is the short, direct answer to what is going on: Why is this happening? Can you fix it yourself? Why is Support taking so long? What you should do next:

I used GitHub for years, paid user from 2016, but now when Iβm trying to pay for my GitHub account, but I get this message:
"You can't proceed with your payment. We are sorry, but after reviewing we have determined that the billing information supplied is ineligible for transactions with GitHub due to government restrictions."
The issue is that I also cannot edit my payment method because the Payment information section is disabled.
Questions:
I just want to use the service, do they still need customer?
