GitHub’s automated OCR and machine learning verification systems are extremely strict about finding a clear, current academic year or expiration date. If your student ID card does not explicitly display an active academic term, expiration year, or validation sticker, the system cannot confirm whether you are currently enrolled.

Here is how to resolve the date verification issue and get approved:

1. Combine Your Student ID with a Current-Year Document

If your student ID only shows your photo, name, and date of birth (or lacks an explicit expiration year), you can lay multiple documents flat on a table and take one single, clear photo containing:

• Your student ID card.
• An official document showing a current date or academic year (such as a current class schedule, a recent report card, a tuition receipt, or a formal school enrollment letter).

2. Request an Official Enrollment Letter

If your ID card continues to trigger rejections, skip the ID card entirely and use an official enrollment verification letter issued by your school's administration or registrar. Ensure the letter explicitly states:

• Your full legal name.
• The school's name and official letterhead/stamp.
• Clear text stating you are currently enrolled for the active academic year.

3. Account and Location Hygiene

Before submitting your new photo or document, ensure your account settings align to pass automated pre-checks:

• Profile Name: Go to your GitHub profile settings and ensure your "Name" field matches your exact legal name on the school document.
• Location Services: Ensure your browser or device has location permission enabled and you are not running a VPN or proxy. The system checks your physical proximity to the school region.
• Log Out and Back In: Log out of GitHub, clear your cache, log back in, and apply only once. Avoid submitting multiple rapid retries with the same image, as this can lower trust in the automated queue.
