show-whitespace isn’t visually consistent on low-DPI displays  #3985

Description

@Jackenmen

This might very well be intentional, so the title isn't written as if it were a bug. The issue is that I don't quite get how the dot with a different color is chosen. It seems that it has a different color for 14th dot and then 19th (I didn't really try hard to find a PR with more whitespace to check what the next one would be) which are seemingly random dots although they're consistent across different PR pages. I am not sure if they're supposed to even have a different color, but if they are, then I'm not sure why these specific dots would be chosen. I can definitely see how it would be easier to count whitespace if the dot had a different every N spaces with N being some smaller number like 4, but that's not the case.
