The docs are pretty inconsistent in the service configuration (using dot notation, don't using dot notation, prefixing with DI alias, etc.). Everything should be updated to follow the documented naming conventions: http://symfony.com/doc/current/contributing/code/standards.html#service-naming-conventions

Well, when talking about application bundles, I'm not sure that they should follow the same naming conventions as for reusable third-party bundles (see #4250).
