A Dumpster Fire for Certain
When will GOP lawmakers wake up?
It gets worse each day.
From the very first moments of the Trump Administration, chaos has prevailed. It has been a reprise of his first four years, so no surprise there.
This is not a matter of policy differences between democrats and Republicans. Nothing about the Trump agenda is normal. I have been quite vocal about all of this, and I’m beginning to receive some flak from folks who are uncomfortable with my zeal! Sorry, folks; I call ‘em as I see ‘em.
I call the office of Rep. John James, my Republican congressman, every day to register my concern. Nothing has happened so far, and I see no indication that any members of the GOP are prepared to stand up and be counted. To be fair, I call Senators Elissa Slotkin and Gary Peters, too.
Meanwhile, the Federal government is being systematically dismantled by the authority of unlawful executive orders—remember how the GOP attacked Obama and Biden whenever they issued and EO—and being carried out by an unelected “special employee” and a band of clueless twenty-somethings.
Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) is ready to file Articles of Impeachment— if he can get just two Republicans to co-sponsor. Good luck! Meanwhile, we suffer the whims of a twice-impeached former president, who behaves like a petulant child in calling people names or otherwise denigrating other people—those who have served America with great loyalty. I lost track of how many times Trump disrespected Joe Biden as he delivered his speech on Tuesday night. His public reference to Sen Elizbeth Warren as “Pocahontas” was characteristically over-the-top. I am growing tired of his cruel antics.
He seems to float ideas and plans to scale back America’s commitment to maintain the social safety net without considering how the very words are worrisome to millions. He speaks of preposterous things, like creating a five-million-dollar “Gold Card” for citizenship, while touting ICE raids. He both tolerates and encourages the antics of Elon Musk—seemingly turning over much of his authority and responsibility to an unelected government employee—one who openly engages in business with a decisive conflict-of-interest flavor. It seems that the entire enterprise is just a huge grift.
This is a daily dumpster fire, and these conflagrations are unlikely to abate without intervention.
You see, I know something about professional firefighting. Trash container fires are a nuisance, but when departments are forced to respond to several at once, the community’s public safety resources are spread thin. Typically, the crew of a responding engine will opt to utilize the rig’s booster line, (often referred to as the red line) rather than stretch to a hydrant with the larger diameter hose. Urban fire departments, like Detroit—the best structural fire fighters in the world—are skilled, dedicated, and passionate. But their resources are limited.
Every incident commander knows to knock the fire down before it gets out of control. You get the metaphor! We are rapidly approaching the moment when the fire has spread to the house. We might already be there.

The sad thing is that we all seem to be waiting for the Great Rescuer to swoop in and save us. We will be waiting a long time.
We are the people we’ve been waiting for!
Trump has just directed his Education Secretary, Linda McMahon of WWE fame, to begin dismantling the Department of Education, a clearly unlawful order in contravention of a duly-enacted law creating the Department in 1867 and then revised in 1979 under the Carter Administration.
An administration official told NewsNation White House correspondent Libbey Dean early Thursday that Trump would sign an executive order Thursday afternoon that directs McMahon to begin dissolving the Education Department.
The official White House schedule was updated Thursday morning with Trump signing unspecified executive orders at 2 p.m. EST.
A White House official later told Dean that Trump would not be signing the executive order dismantling the Education Department on Thursday while it is being reviewed.
The executive order, first reported by The Wall Street Journal, has been in the works since before Trump was sworn into office in January.
The draft of the order recognizes that the president does not have the authority to abolish the department and that it would likely take 60 votes in the Senate, where Republicans hold only 53 seats, The Washington Post reported.

It sounds as though they know this EO is illegal. Meanwhile—and in the interim—more generated chaos!
I am growing weary of the cruelty, the threats, and the hateful language. You should be, too. The audacity of those who ought to know better is profoundly grating on the psyche of America. Shame on those whose modus operandi is to keep people frightened and off-balance.
If you are not on a first-name relationship with the staff of your House representative and your two senators, you should be. The message should be simple and to the point: When will you stand up as a member of a co-equal branch of government to curtail the illegal excesses of this administration?
Resist and do not obey in advance!

Superb analysis!
