“Lauren and I partnered together to author a study: The State of Data as a Product in the Real World. Her insights as a data scientist were a game-changer; not only for her ability to make sense of the data, but also because of the perspectives she brought from her experience as a practitioner. Lauren's input and contributions made the study actionable and valuable as well as informative. Lauren's energy is contagious, and her commitment to excellence took our work to the next level. Lauren doesn't just work hard; she cares deeply about achieving goals, helping people learn and grow, and inspires others to up their game. If you're looking for someone who'll bring fresh ideas, genuine enthusiasm, and a meticulous eye for detail to your project, Lauren's your go-to. I'm proud to have co-authored with her and welcome any opportunity to work with her again. I can't recommend Lauren highly enough.”

Applied machine learning heuristics including genetic algorithm and simulated annealing optimization as solution methods to determine the optimal routes of road trips traversing every continental US National Park.
Designed a year-long research project exploring a topic of personal interest. Investigated a unique approach to road-trip optimization by formulating a Traveling Salesman Problem, examining the mathematics/computer science background of the problem, applying knowledge of the SDLC to implement genetic algorithm and simulated annealing optimization techniques, and defending project results at an Oral Defense.
Abstract: This project investigates an approach to road-trip optimization. We formulate a Traveling Salesman problem to minimize the overall travel cost accumulated along a road-trip route. The NP-hard complexity of TSP makes exact methods inefficient at locating solutions. We research the alternate solution methods known as heuristics and implement a repetitive nearest-neighbor heuristic, a simulated annealing metaheuristic, and a genetic algorithm metaheuristic. We apply these three methods to the 40-National Park TSP referred to as the Road Trip Problem. -
