What This Skill Does
A two-mode office hours simulation that saves a design document. Startup mode runs six diagnostic questions testing demand reality, the status quo workaround, customer specificity, minimum viable wedge, user observation, and future-fit. Builder mode is a brainstorming partner for side projects, hackathons, and open source.
Most brainstorming skips the questions that separate real demand from wishful thinking; this forces the specific six-question sequence YC partners use to determine whether a problem is actually worth building.
When to use it
- Running a startup idea through six demand-forcing questions before writing any code
- Turning a vague project concept into a scoped design doc with explicit next steps
- Finding the smallest paid version of a product that's trying to cover too much ground
- Stress-testing problem-solution framing before a YC application or investor pitch
- Structuring a hackathon idea into a build plan with evaluated alternatives and tradeoffs
