For once, internet is a subscription service which not everyone can afford, just because you and all your friends can afford internet doesn’t mean everyone can, computers can be gotten for free, internet there’s no way around it.
But for the biggest issue, windows is spyware, the only way to use it while warranting privacy is by airgapping it from the internet and running it standalone, it is also the only way to be sure to contain cracked programs to make sure they don’t distribute illegal content from your IP.
It’s the way I run windows (when I have to) and I don’t like the prospects of not being able to run proprietary software securely when there aren’t viable libre alternatives.
Also, software being dependent on internet and therefore some company’s server means that eventually when said server or company shutsdown the program or device becomes useless.
AFAIK there’s no free as in freedom implementation and only works with propriety apps and I read google messages refuses to use RCS on rooted/unofficial systems. So that’s a big no.
Another big problem is, people who don’t have mobile internet and unknowingly have it enabled (aka most people who still use SMS) won’t get the message until they connect to WiFi or some time passes.

Macbooks particularly are one of the stupidest shit someone can burn money on, the extreme high price and low performance make apple computers literally the worse in the market.
For the price of a powerful computer with RTX and all, you get an useless office computer where the keyboard is even too shit to do any office work on it.
As for the actual question, I tend to spend money that I shouldn’t on premium audio gear, I should feel bad about it, but I really enjoy listening to good audio and for me I feel it’s worth it even if I have to postpone things that for most people are considered essential.
Also, it’s very hard for me to spend money on (new) computers and camera gear. I terribly need a new computer with a good GPU for 3D modeling and a decent camera. However if I buy a new computer or camera in 10 years it will be obsolete and worth 10x less than I paid for it meanwhile stuff like audio gear or musical instruments don’t become obsolete so I’m more likely to spend money on yet another paid of headphones that I don’t need than saving up for a computer.

I think you’re confusing two different concepts, dynamic range compression and data compression.
The first is like an automated volume control that lowers the volume really really fast in a matter of ms when the volume reachest a certain threshold, (can also work the other way where in increases below a certain threshold, or both).
The reduces the file size, sacrificing quantity if a lossy codec is uses. Lossless codecs like flac are a bit to bit perfect of the original.
Analogue is best for DX (distant communication) because of the cliff effect, it’s better to have KSSH than having the signal drop completely.

Some years ago I burned a quadrophonic bootleg version of Dark Side of the Moon, the original Alan Parsons mix (which sounds much better then the official version) so a friend can listen to it on his 5.1 home cinema.
Besides that I haven’t used DVDs in more than a decade, harddrives are cheaper, reliable, always online, run btrfs with realtime checksums and are easy to backup. Besides last time I checked most DVDs don’t read anymore.
People buy 2k bikes? Those are pretty high end, common ones would be 150 or 800 if electric.
