Hi. As many of you know, I live in Los Angeles, and this has been a week.

I had a draft ready to go for today’s essay—it involves a truly wild experience of recent—but then the fires started, and I’ve been on the run ever since with my go-bag, reporting, volunteering, helping friends, being helped by friends, the gamut.
