Additional ideas: * The entry boxes should have Alt- shortcuts to focus onto them, currently none are indicated, but it would be common (I'm sure I'm not alone!) to want to change the search and re-search just via the keyboard!

F2 to rename file (entire path) or F2 rename (just name) with shift-F2 move (entire path) - include under File Operations

Option to mark a file as done (so it stays in list unlike 'Remove from list') - slightly more generally, ability to put a colour mark against a file or selection (red, green, blue or a few more, and none) - e.g. right-clicking a selection should offer a few colours and ability to remove the colour; colour marks remembered across searches until program closed

Fantastic, I presume you'll be addressing the speed of recording hits that's raised in the other posts. As far as I can see this small program doesn't have a comparable alternative due to its tiny size and good presentation and if that speed issue is sorted it would be awesome!

This should be addressed with the next update and using a different control for the file list (and other areas) that lend to better/more control over style/colors.

I moved off AgentRansack because it used to be lean but after later updates it became colossal in size, and AstroGrep is fantastic in concept (thank you!), but with the search being slow. If I use a simple search on a few files it is very slow but adjusting the search so that it is not found it searches files instantly which tells me the problem is not in the search (file find) but in the display / hits within file. It should not be so slow by any means, and in the immediate term...

When you have your resulting File List, you click on one file and see the hits within the file below. The file you click would benefit very much from lighting up with a background colour that can be set in options (Tools - Options - Results tab - File List section - "Selected Item Back Colour"), as currently when you click the file it's poorly highlighted and when you click into one of the other panes ceases to be highlighted at all. Unfortunately, AstroGrep doesn't support searching for directories directly. It is able to find files like you are trying, but it doesn't list out directories (when searching with no search text).

Running the latest version on Windows 10 Pro. I'm in the middle of trying to sort version control issues across multiple machines and virtual machines. For the life of me, I cannot get AstroGrep to find all .svn files on a drive. And, yes, I have checked the exclusion list and disabled excluding .svn directories. Currently the silent option to the installer just defaults to English and has no other options. You can change those via Tools->Options within AstroGrep. I'll create a feature request to be able to set those via parameters to the installer. Thanks for asking!

Are you talking about using a strong name key file to sign the assembly or something like a certificate to remove any warnings from things like Microsoft/Defender when running it? I know the latter cost money which is why it hasn't been done (basically this app has only 1 or 2 developers at most in our spare time). Thanks for trying to use AstroGrep though, appreciate it!

The PayPal link to contribute financially to the project is not working and results in a "This organization can't accept donations right now." page on the PayPal website. This applies to the "Donate" link in the above menu for the Sourceforge project page, but also for the "Donate" menu item in the "Help" menu in the desktop program itself.

Hi! I just submitted the full Brazilian Portuguese translation for AstrGrep. I sent it via e-mail as instructed at the Download section of the website but I guess it'd be good to leave it here as well :) I translated both the xml localisation file and the installer strings.

Based on the screen shot and thinking about this more, it seems like perhaps this file or files are being searched with the File Filters plugin enabled. If you get the latest version of the app, please click the Plugins link under the Search Options on the left hand side of the app. Then uncheck the File Filters plugin. This usually isn't desired as file filters can be applied to regular text files/types as well and they just don't have the full support of context lines/line numbers/etc. at this...

With the latest (I think 4.4.8 had it as well), if you perform a search, then check the search option 'Search in results', that will take the list of found files from the first search and search them only with the new search (so changing text, or whatever settings you change).

Hmm, it also looks like you have line numbers turned on but nothing is displayed in the left hand margin. Perhaps this file has odd end line characters that for some reason isn't being detected? Are you able to share this file? Is this an update from a previous version or a clean install of 4.4.9? You could try to remove all AstroGrep settings by deleting the %appdata%\AstroGrep folder (hit Windows Key + R and put that into it). Note this will make you lose any settings/search history/etc. though....

Good news! I updated v4.4.8 to v4.4.9 and this time everything was just fine. So, I suppose something was wrong with the previously installed v4.4.7 that caused the malfunction after the update.

Oh I'm sorry. I just deleted v4.4.9 before reinstalling v4.8 and the log was deleted as well. As time permits I will try again the last version.

Any way you can share your log from around that time (Help -> Log File)? And/Or share a example file that was causing the long delay? Just wondering what is going on as the biggest change for 4.4.9 from 4.4.8 was just adding Dark Theme support. Thanks!
