Thank you for testing. So maybe it is time to consider removing this setting also? Yes, I think this would be the best. Thinking about this setting now, I'm not sure why I included it at all. ;-) I keep this issue open as a reminder since I have only limited spare time to work on the plugin, thus your proposed change will be applied at a later point in time.

Ok will do. EDIT: It's working. There is one quirk (that I think is acceptable). When "Smart Highlighting" item color is changed in Notepad++ Configurator, it overrides the setting in your plugin, but not the other way around. However, when the setting is set in your plugin, it is persistent between tab changes, and even between sessions (close / reopen Notepad++). So I think it's good as is. But the issue still remains, when the user changes the "Smart Highlighting" color setting in Notepad++ Style...

Just tested. The "Smart Highlighting" in Style Configurator overrides this setting. When i change this setting in Notepad ++ it shows in your plugin, but when change this setting in your plugin and switch tabs, the Style Configurator setting takes precedence. EDIT: Tested in Notepad++ v8.4.7 64-bit

Could you add the SCI_SETMARGINLEFT / SCI_SETMARGINRIGHT to be able to change the editor margins? https://community.notepad-plus-plus.org/topic/20157 and https://community.notepad-plus-plus.org/topic/20948 have both recently asked about how to change those, and being able to point to your plugin as the solution would be nice.

Update: Following the provided instructions, the issue was localized even more There seems to be a conflict between these 2 extensions: ExtSettings DSpellCheck When both of them are installed, Notepad++ shows this "Fast Fail Exception" error during exit. When only 1 of these 2 extensions is installed, there is NO error. The same update was posted at https://github.com/Predelnik/DSpellCheck/issues/173 Thank you

I've set up a test environment in a VM: OS: Windows 10 x64 v1803, version 10.0.17134, build 17134.1304 Notepad++: v7.8.4 (32 bit), installed in %ProgramFiles(x86)%\Notepad++, running with Admin rights, same plugins like in your debug info ExtSettings plugin: v1.2.1, set up like in your screen shot Notepad++ runs with session feature deactivated. All plugins except ExtSettings are running with default settings. When I start Notepad++ and immediatly terminate...

Please add the following additional info: Windows version and bitness. For Windows 10 please include the exact version number, e.g. v1809, v1903, and so on. Notepad++ debug info. You can get it by clicking on (menu) ? -> Debug Info -> Copy debug info into clipboard A screenshot of your ExtSettings plugin dialog. This way I can see the settings you are using.

I opened the following ticket: https://sourceforge.net/p/extsettings/tickets/1/ If the "ExtSettings v1.2.1" plugin is installed in the Notepad++, when you close the editor, it shows this popup: *Fast Fail Exception A fail fast exception occurred. Exception handlers will not be invoked and the process will be terminated immediately.
