For the first time I gave a talk on how maintainers can prepare their projects for receiving security reports, how to protect themselves from abuse in the process, where to find infos on how vulnerability scoring works and how best to mitigate issues and push out fixing releases without putting their users at risk.

I gave an updated version of my talk "How to deal with toxic people" at EuroPython 2025 to a full room. Once more I got quite some feedback on how helpful the content of the talk is and how important is to also talk about this part of being a maintainer and how to deal with the bad sides of the daily work in a healthy way.

Together with Ines Montani, Richard Campbell, Calvin Hendryx-Parker and host Michael Kennedy we did a blind deep dive into the recent Stack Overflow Developer survey results and discussed the rising and falling trends in the Python and broader development space. I shared my concerns about the energy use and hype of AI and forcing AI into every tool and thus also into the hands of people who might not know how to use these tools responsibly, leading to additional issues for maintainers.

OctoPrint's 1.11.0 release, the final one to support Python 3.7 and 3.8, coming with three new bundled plugins and a ton of other new features and bug fixes.
Open source project / 04-22-2025
Together with other OSS maintainers I was interviewed about Maintenance & Burnout for a podcast episode of a german public-service radio and tv broadcaster. The goal of the podcast episode was to explain the concept of Open Source maintenance and the risks of having so much on the shoulders of such a small group of people in layman's terms.
