Welcome to our community, Ella Drua, one of the seven Embera and Wounaan Communities in the region. This active Emberá and Wounaan village proudly hosts visitors to share their traditions and cultures. Two of the seven officially recognize indigenous ethnic groups, the Emberá and Wounaan, who number fewer than 30,000, reside in Panama.

Ella Drua is a community of about 120 residents, tucked away in the hills and jungle and found upriver on the Rio Gatun, in the province of Colon. We employ tourism and agriculture to sustain our communities and preserve our culture and environment. You will find our Emberá and Wounaan women wearing brightly colored wrap skirts called parumas and our men wearing traditional cloths and beaded jewelry.

The Emberá and Wounaan are master artisans in Panama, known for our woven baskets and masks as well as the quality wood carvings of cocobolo and intricate tagua carvings
.Enjoy the traditional music and dance of the Emberá and Wounaan as you explore Ella Drua.
