Pala — Friendly Fires

Pala is occasionally gloomy, but consistently has me moving more than my head while working. If my shoulders and upper body are rocking and swaying, I’m likely listening to this album.

It's a melodic shift that's as over-the-top as it is impressively delivered-- but that's kind of the point. Friendly Fires was best when playing to the rafters with romantic electro-gaze textures ("Skeleton Boy") and big, cheesy gestures ("Paris"). They're sensualists who excel under a lack of restraint. — Pitchfork

I laugh every time they sing about watching a movie about a talking dog while on a plane. They aren’t afraid to be corny. It’s a fun album. Be happy.
