What is the compliance burden for employers?
Minimal. Block Rewards operates on a non-custodial model, meaning we never take possession of your employees' Bitcoin. Purchases run through a registered, regulated exchange partner. Your HR team's job is simply to approve the payroll connection — Block Rewards manages all compliance filings, custody arrangements, and ongoing regulatory obligations on your behalf.
Who actually holds the Bitcoin?
Your employees do, completely. Bitcoin is deposited into each person's individual wallet, secured through institutional-grade infrastructure. From that point it belongs to them — they can move, sell, or hold it whenever they like. There's no lock-in period and no employer involvement once the funds land. Your organization has no exposure to the asset itself.
How does dollar-cost averaging reduce risk?
Rather than trying to time the market, dollar-cost averaging (DCA) spreads purchases across many pay periods. A consistent dollar contribution buys more Bitcoin during price dips and less during peaks, which gradually evens out the average entry price over time. Many Canadians already use this same logic with RRSP contributions — Block Rewards simply applies it to Bitcoin automatically.
What payroll systems do you integrate with?

What are the tax implications for employees?
Contributions come from after-tax pay, so there's no deduction at the source. Block Rewards provides the transaction records employees need for reporting. We always recommend speaking with a CPA or tax advisor for guidance specific to your situation.
What happens to the Bitcoin if an employee leaves?
The Bitcoin stays with the employee, full stop. Because it's sent to their personal wallet at purchase — not held in a company account — it's already theirs by the time they leave. There's no waiting period and nothing for HR to claw back. Offboarding is the same as any other payroll process: their final contribution runs, funds transfer, done.
How does employer matching work?
Matching is entirely your call. You decide the rate — or skip it altogether. Some employers use it as a signing bonus equivalent, others build it into annual reviews. Whatever you set, it runs automatically alongside the regular payroll cycle and can be adjusted at any renewal period.
Is there a minimum number of employees required?
