The Bamum script is a logographic writing system used by the Bamum people of Cameroon. It is one of the few African scripts that were not developed by colonial powers. The script is believed to have been created in the 19th century by King Ibrahim Njoya of the Bamum Kingdom. Bamum script is composed of approximately 700 characters, each representing a word or concept. It is a relatively complex script to learn, but it is still used by some Bamum people today.
