Beria Erfe is a new script recently added to the Unicode Standard in version 17.0. It is an indigenous alphabetic script for the Zaghawa language, also known as Beria, which is spoken in Sudan, Chad, and Libya. The script's characters are uniquely derived from the traditional animal brands used by the Zaghawa people for their livestock, particularly camels. It is also notable for its typography, as its uppercase letters descend below the baseline, unlike in Latin-based scripts.
