Hi! I'm Storse. (she/her it/its)
I'm a transfem lesbian who enjoys both making and consuming art of all kinds, and while you'll probably find me talking about my art projects here once and a while you'll most likely see me documenting games I'm playing or talking about shows and movies that I'm watching; maybe even ranting about something that makes me mad. Anything, really.
I'll be here to listen to myself yap yap yap and have some fun doing it, so if whomever comes across this page and finds amusement in my unorganized rambling that's pretty neat.

Halo:CE LASO Day 4
Dec. 28th, 2025 09:01 pmTRIUMPH! MISSION 3 OF HALO:CE TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION IS DONE! WE ARE FREEEEEEE, HOURS AND HOURS OF TORMENT WE ARE FINALLY THROUGH THE BOTTLENECK!

I don't think I'm gonna do a play-by-play of what we did and what went down besides some KEYE moments because it all merged into a single slush of "killing stuff and dying on the covenant ship" in my mind but the spark-notes of it are: We got into the ship like 100 minutes in (I checked the steam overlay) only having major struggles when we tried to climb a tree to get into a cheese spot we saw online; praying for doors to open or not open depending on the area; looping back around to get more ammo and finally: Keyes.
Fucking Keyes. This stupid piece of shit geriatric old fuck who was probably a nepo-baby because how did he get into a commander position when he kept fucking RUNNING INTO BULLETS, GETTING BLOWN UP AND CHARGING INTO THE ENEMY. Worthless fuck.
Anyways, some notable moments in my mind that was not gameplay related was in the midst of gunfire and us imitating Elite screams for fun and writing lists of every Jackal we wanted dead, was Komo came up with a wonderful sitcom idea, imagine this: There's this suburban family, ordinary and white as can be, think a typical Disney channel sitcom like Victorious or something (at least this is how I pictured it in my head) the story follows a young teenager named Hunter Chase Blaine???? (I can't remember exactly), and he's different from the other kids, Hunter is a grunt from Halo, and there's yaoi with an Elite who's the hottest and coolest guy at school, but watch out! There's two bullies that want to make Hunter's life hell! A Hunter (an actual HALO Hunter) who's the boss of the bullies and a Jackal who has a personal vendetta against Hunter (the grunt) It's awesome right?
Okay I'm glad that this mission is over and I'm very glad to be out of that dark and dreary ship and those horrible zero visibility forest/cliffside thing.

Halo:CE LASO Day 2+3
Dec. 17th, 2025 12:43 amOK, so. I'm combining day 2 and 3 together because during day 2 we made 0 progress, basically. We got stuck on the first third of the level for 3 hours, then decided to swap to Halo Reach LASO for another 2 hours before finally giving up and playing a less crash-out inducing game. (STRAFTAT for those wondering, highly recommend it since it's a good time with friends)
Anyways, Day 3. We triumphed! We did it! We made it past the devil's asscrack!........ Into a blender of Golden Elites and suffering. We made it past the first third of the third mission, finally. It took us around 3 hours, maybe 4. I wasn't keeping track, time dilation got me thinking we were stuck there for a week. After making relatively quick work of the first area in 25 minutes we were feeling good, warmed up and ready to go. Unfortunately the momentum was quickly squashed because after that we were bashing our heads against it for hours trying a strategy I had seen in a youtube video of previous LASO-ers and their success story, the I had really hoped it would work since it would make the ammo situation significantly less tenuous; a video by I.V Gaming seemed to pique my interest. The strategy went something like this: After the first 2 arenas, past the first health kit, one person (me, in this case) was to make their way to the Active Camouflage power-up located between two trees at the back of the third arena while the other stayed behind near the first ammo and health kit deposit. This invisible deviant was then meant to go to the next area and backstab the two Jackals and a blue Elite and start clearing the room, eventually a Covenant Drop Ship would spawn and according to the video all the enemies in the previous area would drop dead of a synchronized spontaneous heart attack, letting the one waiting behind come back unscathed and able to assist. This did not work. At All. I hit a checkpoint too somehow so we were either going to make it work or restart, and we already restarted once because we thought it didn't work due to Komo being in the area we were skipping but it didn't work. Long story short it ended up being "Storse went ahead early to do the waves early while Komoxium suffered great war terrors in the previous room alone an afraid." I didn't know what was going on on her end but that shit sounded tumultuous... She also couldn't make a crouch jump up a ledge so I had to help her up one time but we died so it didn't matter :( Anyways after trying that over and over and over again we finally lamented and reset one more time.
This time we were "locked in". Not really, we were beaten down and delirious after the failures and spent some time at the start goofing around killing each-other and chasing the dropship because we wanted to go home, Komo got a smoothie though, a buff for the winning run! At this point, all we really wanted to do was to get past the first third of the level and see what was inside the covenant ship. It started really rough as our worn down bodies were on auto pilot getting blown up and killed in the usual bullshit way of grunts flying into our face, plasma grenades ruining our lives and watching Elites have better movement and dodging capabilities than the majority of human players would have in an FPS game. Eventually we made it through though, this time our strategy was different, the invisibility strategy seemed to be pretty effective as a wedge into the next area, so the plan became: clear out most of the room (to not incur the wrath of a covenant drop ship.)" Then I would take the invisibility and go forward; backstab the two red elites that came down the small corridor to make life easier for Komo who would stagger behind while I did kill the Jackals and Elite and start the next area, after a few tries this worked and we were both able to fight in the next area, where the true torment would begin. I honestly can't even remember what was going on for most of that, it was just trying over and over again dying by stupid shit over and over again until finally we accidentally flagged a checkpoint at an opportune moment and managed to break through, punching to death the two hunters that came down signalling the end of this third of the mission.
Then we got our shit kicked in for like 40 minutes and had to give up because it was past midnight, she had work an I'm a jobless bum trying to sleep good so that was that. Next time we'll hopefully make it to the ship in less than 3 hours and have enough time and energy to make it past the next section. A big issue I'm worried about though is our ammo situation, I entered with only 8 shots of sniper rifle to my name with 1 health, forcing me to use the (presumably) single health pack in the first arena so that it wouldn't be impossible. Regardless, this is still progress! I wont lie the last time an FPS game tired me out this much was doing day 1 raiding in Destiny 2, spending 13 hours and getting to the final boss before everyone in the fireteam gets tilted and disbanding. That happened to me twice, once in Root of Nightmares with randoms I joined on LFG and a fireteam full of people I didn't know in my clan at the time. Anyways, this is it for the Halo LASO blogpost I hope we beat the next third of the mission next time we play! Or get a little bit further :D
Side note, but the remastered visuals for the inside of the Covenant Ship is so generic artstation it's kinda crazy, it's not even good looking artstation-esque scifi either it just uses the generic hexagon shapes and isn't really interesting to look at, it's a pretty common issue to me with the remastered graphics in general here it feels like they there away any and all of the original atmosphere from the original CE but it just looks "fine"

Halo:CE LASO Day 1
Dec. 13th, 2025 06:53 amRecently a friend of mine Komoxium (bluesky & instagram) invited me to do the LASO challenge on the Halo Master Chief Collection. If you don't know what LASO (Legendary All Skulls On) is don't worry I didn't either, but essentially it's going through the campaign on the hardest difficulty with every single difficulty modifier enabled (AKA Skulls). All the difficulty modifiers are fucked up but notable ones are: You're locked to human weapons, no needlers, no energy sword, nothing that the human faction didn't create. Enemies also both drop less ammo, have significantly more health AND you spend twice the ammo per shot! It's great! Every time you spawn in a piece of the HUD is gone too, so sometimes you just straight up don't have a crosshair or have to guess at how much health you have left. Shields also don't regenerate and you have to punch an enemy to gain it back. Grunts also explode on death which is extra deadly (but also useful) because grenade explosions have significantly more range too.
Now with that preface of how fucked up this challenge is out of the way you'd hope that we went into this as experienced elite masters of Halo, right? While Komo has had limited experience with these games in the past- I, unfortunately, as you can probably tell by me not knowing what LASO was in the first place, was completely inexperienced. This was my first time ever playing any Halo game at all, only knowing of it through cultural osmosis and because I like Bungie's other game a lot: Destiny 2 (3700 hours on steam... It's so over...) Now i'm gonna be honest I did just think this would be a GM Nightfall with a bunch of modifiers on it but it is so much more tumultuous than that, the severely limited ammo is soooo painful, it makes everything so much more high stakes and almost makes this game more of a resource management challenge than a shooting one (though shooting does kinda feel weird in this game at least to me).
The thing is on the first mission when you wake up in your cryo pod you're led to believe that it wont be that bad, after all grunts blowing up seem to help you more than they hurt, me and Komo made it through with not too much friction, i just died a few dozen times because i was new and also bad but we made it out alive in one piece. Where it really became apparent (and where we spent the rest of our session before stopping for the night) was the second level, a big sprawling environment aboard the titular Halo where you had to go around and rescue the marines that you got separated from because of the spaceship you were on in the first level blowing up. We went under the assumption that you could skip saving the marines and just kill them to speed things up or ignore them — which turned out to be a big mistake later on.

I'm skipping a lot here but all you have to know was once we got the warthog after much torment from not just ammo troubles, but also sitting on a rock for 4 minutes because we wanted to despawn the enemies, and during that whole ordeal Komo accidentally punched me in the face while I was 1 hp, causing us to need to redo that (though it wasnt a big deal, it was very funny). I will say it was all worth it as we ended up relying on that loathesome vehicle a lot. The strategy ended up somewhere along the lines of where depending on who had the most health out of the two of us at the moment, just to be safe, we had to resort to peppering at enemies with the mounted minigun from across the map with the most inaccurate spread of all time just to make it through, i don't know how long it took, 3? 4 hours? It felt like we were on that map for weeks... The final stretch was spent with us driving around trying to find out how to progress before realize that we needed to kill every enemy and that mowing down the marines was a really big mistake and didn't actually skip anything, since they could have helped out. I was a single shot away from dying too so I just had to sit on a rock while Komo did all the heavy lifting (thank you my GOAT we couldn't have done it without you) and after all that we finally beat Mission 2 (wow hahahah this is gonna take forever)
We stopped after a going through a bit of the 3rd level because of ammo issues and a general fatigue and dread that washed over us after the last mission so we stopped there. All in all though I wont lie I still had a really good time! It's always fun to play games with my friends especially if it's not filled with getting mad at each-other and laughing off fumbles and mistakes; super funny that this is my first ever experience playing the Halo franchise too and we'll definitely be continuing this on another day.
