"At Coder, 1% of my engineers are responsible for 40% of my token spend." CEO Rob Whiteley uses that number to make a different point: token spend is the wrong metric entirely. The real gap is in adoption, between developers who get a golden path to new tools and developers blocked outright by security teams for reasons that have nothing to do with the tool itself. Whiteley told The New Stack that security teams often block Cursor "not because anything is wrong or insecure with Cursor," but because of an architectural mismatch that turns the customer into the systems integrator. Coder Agent Relay closes that gap. Regulated enterprises can now run Cursor's cloud agents inside self-hosted, auditable workspaces, with SpaceXAI as the launch partner. Last week, we announced Coder Agent Relay with SpaceXAI. Here's the technical depth we didn't have room for in the announcement. Most engineering orgs are further behind than they think: 70% are running AI agents on infrastructure that was never designed to support them, and only 31% have reached org-wide AI governance, according to Coder's assessment of 100 engineering teams. Agent Relay separates where an agent thinks from where it executes. Cursor Cloud Agents keep running the reasoning loop in the cloud, unchanged. Execution moves into a self-hosted Coder workspace, where Agent Firewall, RBAC, and audit logging apply automatically. No separate security model for agent traffic. Sandboxing the workspace is the easy half. The harder half is attribution, tracing an agent's actions back to the person who requested them. Agent Relay resolves each request against the org's existing identity provider, so an agent's commits, tool calls, and file access carry the same attribution as a human developer's.
