  • Last week, #EASA collaborated with EUROAVIA and T-C-Alliance to host GEN Days 2025 — three energising days where more than 60 students from across Europe came together to explore the future of aviation, meet industry experts, and discover the huge variety of careers that keep our sector moving.   From cybersecurity to sustainability, AI to UAM, students had the chance to dive into real operational challenges, debate the skills of the future, and meet the people shaping tomorrow’s aviation system. The strong turnout of young women and students from diverse backgrounds made it clear: the next generation is ready, curious, and full of potential.   But here’s the real takeaway: If we want these talented young people to join our sector, and stay, we must make aviation visible, exciting, and welcoming. Following the event, here is a call to organisations across Europe. Now is the time to reflect on how you are: ➡️ Engaging and inspiring the next generation of aviation professionals ➡️ Showing the diversity of roles and pathways available and not just the ones people already know ➡️ Creating an inclusive culture where young people feel valued, supported, and empowered to grow   Attracting talent is only half the challenge. Retaining it requires workplaces where people feel they belong.   Through EPAS SPT.0107, EASA will continue supporting organisations in reaching young people early in a fresh, engaging, and meaningful way, ensuring a strong, diverse and future-ready aviation workforce.   The question for all of us. What are you doing today to make aviation a career destination of choice?

  • As a step forward in mitigating the risk of airborne collisions for General Aviation, EASA is pleased to announce the release of ADS-L 4 SRD860 Issue 2.   This updated specification marks another important step in strengthening electronic conspicuity, improving situational awareness, and enabling the safe integration of manned and unmanned aircraft across all types of airspace—including U-space.   What’s new in Issue 2? ➡️ Improved transmission requirements ➡️ New ground-to-air retransmission capability ➡️ Enhanced interoperability and forward compatibility ➡️ Links to UAS remote identification standards, preparing for future applicability to unmanned operations   These updates reflect extensive collaboration between regulators, manufacturers, operators, and user associations—ensuring ADS-L remains practical, future-proof, and ready to support scalable airspace integration. EASA invites stakeholders to join the ADS-L Coalition, a forum supporting harmonised implementation and ongoing innovation in electronic conspicuity. 🔗 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/ehajp-AB 🔗 Coalition Declaration: https://lnkd.in/ecrJrjEq   Together, we’re advancing safety, awareness, and interoperability for all airspace users: https://lnkd.in/edmUMzxJ

  • #EASA has issued an Emergency Airworthiness Directive (EAD) for the Airbus Aircraft A320 family. This may unfortunately cause disruption to flight schedules and inconvenience to passengers. However, as is always the case in aviation, safety is paramount. For more information https://lnkd.in/ehAwrHDT

  • Our Executive Director Florian Guillermet was invited to deliver the keynote during the first day of the ECA Conference. This was a unique opportunity to meet with the 55 delegates of the European Cockpit Association (European Pilots) and engage on topics which are of importance for the aviation community. He highlighted that working together for #safety is of vital importance and the pilot community is a cornerstone in ensuring that aviation remains safe. Among the interesting topics discussed were: ➡️ the 5 pillars of EASA’s strategy (SAFE – GLOBAL – GREEN – INNOVATIVE - RESILIENT) ➡️ how sustainability and safety need to co-exist, while safety needs to remain the main goal ➡️ how to ensure that rules and standards at international level do not create operational issues the level of safety achieved in summer 2025 He also highlighted that the risk pattern has changed with increased GNSS interference/spoofing. This will need to be addressed by the activating the states, reflecting on the current architecture using GPS, and ensuring operators have developed and implemented specific training programmes for their crews. Overall, it was a stimulating exchange, offering the chance to hear first-hand accounts from pilots on topics that are of importance to them.

  • The biggest risk to aviation #safety in Europe is complacency, arising as a consequence of the industry’s strong safety performance in the region in recent years, speakers at this year’s European Union Aviation Safety Agency’s Annual Safety Conference asserted.   “In aviation, we have to constantly reconsider how safe we are,” said EASA Executive Director Florian Guillermet. “Our discussions show that we are starting to get a better grip on the safety risks at stake today and that we have a common mindset. Now we need to come together to take the right actions, including to ensure that we don’t do compliance for the sake of compliance but for the sake of safety, to keep safety standards high, while ensuring we have competitive European aviation industry.” A show of hands poll of the audience showed unanimous support for the concept of rule simplification. At the same time many speakers illustrated that this is a complex task, to ensure that the framework is fully fit for purpose and that safety is not in the end compromised by the removal or change of a requirement.  Read full press release here 👉 https://lnkd.in/eZA5PmJK #EASA2025ASC
