  • #SmallBusinessSaturday spotlight: Bertha’s bakery is building a multi-generational legacy in Los Angeles, CA. Bertha and her husband started their business from their home, working side-by-side to open a bakery in the community. Now, Bertha’s youngest son is carrying on the family-run business to open more locations. Studies show that money spent at small businesses stays in the local community. Supporting small businesses can even produce more economic activity because business owners are more likely to reinvest into their communities through jobs, services, and engagement. At Grameen America, we help entrepreneurs, like Bertha, and their families, reach their dreams and build businesses that create ripple effects across entire communities. • Earlier this month, we celebrated Grameen America’s expansion and growing impact in Los Angeles, made possible by our incredible LA partners and supporters.   Since launching in Boyle Heights in 2012, we’ve expanded into Pico Union, Long Beach, and the San Fernando Valley. Together, we’ve supported 26,000 entrepreneurs with $630 million in loan capital, and over the next three years, we aim to disburse $1 billion in capital, helping families across the community build lasting economic prosperity.   We look forward to continuing to support small business owners driving growth in their communities.
