Foundations
Matthew 7:24-25 KJV
Therefore whosoever
heareth these sayings of
mine, and doeth them, I
will liken him unto a wise
man, which built his
house upon a rock: And
the rain descended, and
the floods came, and the
winds blew, and beat
upon that house; and it
fell not: for it was
founded upon a rock.

Foundations
1Cor. 3:11-14 KJV
For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay,
stubble; Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because
it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. If
any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.

Foundations
Ephesians 2:19-22 KJV
Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the
saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the
apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner [stone]; In
whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

[[To the chief Musician, [A Psalm] of David.]]
In the LORD put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee [as] a bird to your mountain?
For, lo, the wicked bend [their] bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that
they may privily shoot at the upright in heart.
If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?
The LORD [is] in his holy temple, the LORD'S throne [is] in heaven: his eyes behold,
his eyelids try, the children of men.
The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul
hateth.
Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: [this
shall be] the portion of their cup.
For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance doth
behold the upright.
Psalms 11:1-7 KJV
Some Foundational Questions for Man
How did I come to be?
How should I live?
Why am I here?
What is love?
Is life significant?
Is there absolute truth?
Do I have a purpose?
Is there a God? How can He
be known? What is He like?
What is the basis for
morality?
Why death?
What is truth?
Where am I going?
What is the Role of the Educator in
Addressing Foundational Issues?
1. We must first receive for ourselves what Christ has done on the
Cross. We cannot hope to pour out an indefinite amount of
answers, kindness or love without receiving the ultimate
forgiveness and freedom found in Jesus Christ.
An educator without Christ may be admirably qualified in a content
area, but is at a total loss to answer and address mans ultimate
questions of origins, purpose, and destiny.
What is the Role of the Educator in
Addressing Foundational Issues?
2. The educator must be ready to give an answer for the hope that is
in them. This is applicable in all educational environments.
It is my contention that the believer must be first soaked in
doctrine before attempting to apply their learned trade as a
teacher. This will prepare the teacher for inevitable warfare in the
classroom.
1 Peter 3:15 KJV
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and [be] ready always to [give] an answer to every man
that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
What is the Role of the Educator in
Addressing Foundational Issues?
3. The believer must not be quick to answer questions without
developing relationship, understandings, vocabulary, context, and
capacity in students.
To provide quick, shallow answers is to reduce student
expectations on any topic (math, science, writing, etc.)
Wait for the seed to grow!
What is the Role of the Educator in
Addressing Foundational Issues?
4. Prayer for wisdom: What a blessing to seek the Lord for souls!
a. Wisdom in our personal conversation (way of life)
I Peter 1:15, II Peter 3:11
b. Wisdom in our thought life
I Cor. 2:16
c. Wisdom in our communication II Cor. 7:24
d. Wisdom in timing John 4:4 Leading / Discernment!
