Joel Judkins
Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe Photoshop
Objectives:
Learn to blend two images using photoshop and using the
correct typography.
Process:
To get started, I cropped the background image to 8.511.I
then went to the second image and used the lasso tool to drag
the smoke onto the background image. I then went to the
Dafont.com to download the font called Broken Detroit and
used it for my text.I used the stamp tool to drag some smoke
from image to put around the text in my project to make the
text part of the image.

Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe Illustrator
Objectives:
To create three types of logos for the representation of the same
company.
Process:
Using Adobe Illustrator was a challenge for me because I have
never used it before, but nonetheless I had fun and learning
more about it. For the first logo, I used the ellipse to create the
shape of the ant. I then change the color of the strokes to make
it look like the ant was disconnected. The middle logo was the
most challenging for me. I attempted to give the middle logo a
cartoon look. I used the ellipse tool to make its shapes. The last
logo was really simple. All I did was use the brush tool to draw
an ant farm around the typography.

Adobe InDesign
Objectives:
Design a letterhead for a buisness or company
Process:
The logo that is placed on the document is a logo that I
personally made from a previous project. I made the image
using Adobe Illustrator. I made a few changes with the logo. At
first, the legs and the antennas were just lines not connected
to the body, but I made them thicker and attached the legs
and antennas to the body. When I made the adjustments on
Adobe Illustrator, I copied and pasted the logo onto a new
document in Adobe Indesign. On Indesign I didnt do much. I
made the logo smaller and moved it to the top left of the page.
I then used the gradient tool to give the business card the look
it has now. For the letterhead, I pasted the logo twice on the
document. I water marked the logo onto the page by changing
the opacity and then I moved the other logo to the top right of
the page.

Objectives:
Making a flier by incorportaing principles from Adobe
InDesign.
Process:
Before I created this layout on Adobe Indesign, I sketched
out a few of my ideas on a piece of paper. Out of all the layers
that I sketched, I felt positive that this layout would draw the
attention of college graduate students to attend a graduate
leadership conference. I used boxes to show contrast and
repetition. In my title box, I capitalized and contrasted the
word graduate to create a focal point. The images, logos and
text were provided to me for this flier. I made sure there was
enough white space on the flier and I kept my body copy at a
small size.

PDF2JPG.net (PDF converter)
Objectives:
Find an image and scan it to Microsoft Word.
Use the right typogrphy to create an event ad.
Process:
I found this image in an Ensign and scanned it to my computer.
I used Microsoft Word to expand the image to fit the paper.
I expanded the photo to fit the paper because I wanted the
image to be the focal point of the ad. I believe the image gives
a dramatic look which will catch the attention of the audience.
The quote I used was put in a bigger size font because I wanted
that to catch the attention of the audience as well. Programs
that I used to create this ad: Microsoft Word, Epson Scanner.
and PDF2JPG.net (PDF converter).
Every pizza purchased at

TextWrangler
Adobe Photoshop
Objectives:
Design a webpage using HTML. Compress a logo made
personally and using it on the website
Process:
To make this webpage, I used TextWrangler. I never used
or seen someone use the program TextWrangler, so it was
really challenging and learning experience. When I was first
learning how to use TextWrangler, it was like learning a foreign
language, but as kept working with it each day I was able to
understand well enough to this webpage. The logo that I used
for this webpage is a logo that I made from a previous page. I
used photoshop to copy the colors from the background that I
used for the body, text, borders, etc.

Canon PowerShot Camera
Adobe Photoshop
Objectives:
Learn the basic rules of photography. Being able to use
Photoshop to edit photos to make them more clear.
Process:
As I took the photo and uploaded it on photoshop, I decided
the color scheme to Analogous that I found in Chapter 5 in
the Visual Focus book. When I took the photo, the lighting
was very bright and the colors of the bricks seemed faded. To
have the color of the bricks stand out to capture the audience,
I brought down the vibrance and increased the saturation. To
take this photo, I used a Nikon DSLR D7100 camera. I added a
few elements to the image to give it a better design and I chose
the Colleged Regular font to show a brick them. I used the
eye dropper tool to capture the colors of the image and put
them in the elements that I used for the poster.
