Assignment 4
When I first think bout writing, whether it be in school or own writing (which I dont do),
Commented [WG1]: I would probably try to have a more
creative title, even if its a draft.
Commented [WG2]: Spell check.
I completely despise the thought. It really just makes me angry that I have to do something I am
not good, at all. It gets even worse when I cannot pick my own subject Im writing and have to
do a writing prompt. I have always hated writing with a passion, and I most likely always will no
matter what. Why I hate writing so much is because I know I know what I am talking about in

my head, but then my brain just wipes when I try to write it down into a paper. It is like all sense
of grammar and English just leave my head and rubbish comes out. I struggle with connecting
sentences to other sentences, paragraphs transitioning to other paragraphs, and when and how to
use punctuation.
The very first time I began to hate writing is the first time I had to actually write more
than a paragraph. In elementary school, the first time I saw, Explain your answer, was the day
I hated writing, like, why do I need to explain to you how I got the answernine is divided by
three? I got the answer right, like who cares. As I grew up, writing became harder and harder and
longer and longer than I wanted it to be. My dad is an upper management in his company and he
doesnt have to write near as many papers as I have had to in high school and college. All he has
to do is read over charts, finance capabilities, and give presentations; dont get me wrong, his job
is very hard and puts a lot of stress on him, but he doesnt have to write as many papers as we

have had to in school. Why doesnt school teach practical ways for writing? Like how to balance
checkbooks, memos, or presentations. Anyway, I hate writing and will most likely never like it.
My first thoughts when I think about reading is, which book is it? I dont mind reading
at all, unless it is a book I dont pick, if that happens then I am a lot less enthusiastic about the
book. But I just went to the bookstore to pick up Argo and Stories of Cthulhu. I picked these
books because Argo is about CIA rescuing people under disguises, I love books like this. And
the Cthulhu book is a bunch of stories by H. G. Lovecraft. But I like superhero books a lot, some
comics, but actual books interest me a ton. I can read for a long time, only if it is something I
actually want to read. My first thoughts when I get assigned a book to read in school is, it is
another dumb ass book that no one wants to read and wont interest me at all. Teachers are
always afraid not to get books that are interesting because they do not want to offend anyones
kids or parents. The only time I actually liked a book I read in school was in 7th grade English
class, we read Dracula and it was the coolest story ever. It especially helped that we went a
saw the actual play after we read it. I could sit in a Laz-y Boy and read a book of my choosing
for a long long time. I love reading when I get the pick it.
I never liked to read until my 5th grade teacher, Mr. Camuel, changed all that around for
me. This teacher changed me from poorly in school to doing really well and taking my time with
it. He also used to read to us, A Series of Unfortunate Events, towards the end of every class
and it was highlight of our day, besides recess of course. I will always owe my school success
with Mr. Camuel and my mom/dad also say the same thing. Mr. Camuel cared about me doing
well in school and helped me with it.
The living room and my bedroom are the two most important rooms to me that I have
access to everyday all day. The literacy artifacts that I see in the living room is the couch so I can

relax and read, write, talk to family, or just watch tv and goof off. I love the couch and the mood
it puts me in; the couch is a place of sanctuary and rest to me. I would not even have to be tired
thoughout the day and as soon as I lay on the couch by body starts to relax and become tired and
starts to make me yawn. It is a place of comradery within the family and getting close with each
other and friends that are in it too. Also, if my girlfriend is there with me, it is a place of
intimacy. I didnt bring anything to college with me from my living room, but I did from my
bedroom. My bedroom is a personal shelter for me, I can go there when I need to be alone. I can
keep my personal stuff in my room and no one touches it because they know it is mine. I choose
not to do any homework on my bed because I will put it down and fall asleep and not do any
homework I need to do for the day. My bedroom is a place of rest for me and my girlfriend is she
is over or stays the night. From my bedroom, I brought my Denver broncos flag from my wall
and hung it in my dorm room, along with my American flag, and my I want you for the U.S.
Army poster from my room. I also brought my record player because I love music. Simple
things like that I love to bring with me from my room. I also brought my tv, xbox, my suit, along
with my watch holder I have. My bedroom is a rest literacy for me while my living room is
mainly my relaxing and comradery room so I can get close with people and get to know them, all
the while spending with people I care about.
Growing up throughout the years I have been a part of tons of discourse communities;
from tee-ball to football since kindergarten. My favorite community Ive been a part of is my
high school football at Charlotte Christian School. I got to know these guys really closely over
the two years I was there junior and senior year. This school was three-time state champions
back to back to back. Being on a football team, means you are part of a brotherhood and share
the common goal of getting closer with each other and ultimately being undefeated and win the

state championship but have fun doing it. That is the goal of every high school football team no
matter if they agree or not. Football has a separate language than any other sport in America,
except for a few like offense, defense, and points. Every person has their own form of
communication, whether is being talking to a player, coach, cheerleader, or fan. Different
conversations happen when you are on the sideline than when you are on the field. When you are
on the sideline, and have not been in yet, you are most likely not going in. So you begin to talk
about your day, your weekend plans, or anything you are thinking about throughout the game.
However, when you are on the field, you usually only talk about the game you are playing, or
talking trash to the guy opposite of you like I usually did. Mainly, you are serious on the field,
and less than full serious off the field. Each side of the ball has their own language in football,
or any sport. On defense, you talk about strong side or weak side, middle linebacker or corner
back, or defensive end or nose tackle. The point of the defense is to stop the offense from scoring
and ultimately winning the game. The saying, a good offense is the best defense has a lot of
ground to it. The purpose of the offense is to take some pressure off the defense by continuing to
score touchdowns and drive the ball down the opposing teams defenses throats. At the end of
the game however, everyone is friends and the score doesnt matter, it is time to move onto the
next week. Unless you are playing your rival team, then some fights can break out. Football is an
amazing experience for all people to learn about each other.
Commented [WG8]: Provide your readers with a closing
paragraph that restates your thesis and thoughts about it.
